The role of nursing in humanizing care for hospitalized patients has become a primary focus of contemporary healthcare practice. Humanization is understood as valuing the patient's dignity, subjectivity, and individuality, going beyond technical treatment to encompass the emotional, social, and ethical aspects of care. However, implementing humanization in the hospital environment faces several challenges. Among them, the following stand out: work overload, scarcity of human and material resources, inadequate structural conditions, and pressure for productivity. In this scenario, it is necessary to adopt contemporary strategies that strengthen humanization in nursing care. Continuing education is an essential tool that allows the professional to reflect on their practice and develop relational and communicative skills. Humanization in nursing, therefore, represents a permanent challenge and an ethical responsibility that transcends hospital protocols and routines. Humanized care is that which recognizes the patient as an active subject in the healing process.
